OBJECTIVE: To gain rewarding full time or part time employment with a Medical Transcription company, Hospital, or Radiology Group. My description of the perfect job would be to sit down with a stack of x-ray reports to be transcribed or edited. I am seeking a home-based position. A company that offers good benefits would be great. I have always had an hourly position and have never worked on production. I would prefer employee status but would consider IC status. I have been paid per dictated minute before and I really liked that method of pay. I am willing to work weekends, any days of the week, first or second shift. I am a Radiology MT/Editor.
COMMENTS: I recently took an assessment test and I would like to share the results with any potential employer and/or recruiter: What I want out of work is to be a champion, not only for my own interests, but also for those around me. My colleagues think of me as supportive, encouraging and proactive. I have a talent to offer for working cross-functionally and a commitment to advocacy. My leadership is classified as empowering. I am encouraging and motivating and help others reach their goals. I am seen as a good mentor due to my patience and talent for giving direction. As one who goes with the flow, I have the ability also to adapt to almost any change that is thrown my way. I tend to be quite accommodating to my colleagues and easy to be around. Multitasking is my strongest universal skill. While I am effective in managing multiple things at once, I produce work quickly. My work style shows strength in my ability to be an independent worker. While I can be quite effective working on a team, I feel much more productive when I have the freedom to do things on my own. I simply enjoy the autonomy that independent work entails. I have an available copy of this assessment if needed. As you will be able to see from the contents of my resume, I was a mentor and helped many Radiology transcriptionists along the way. I have received many compliments from past coworkers who did tell me that they would have never made it without me. That, of course, makes one feel she has done a good job. Please recognize this is an assessment test and not something I came up with. I took this test online and it is available for review.
EXPERIENCE: 35+ years experience as a Radiology MT with 7 years experience as a Radiology Editor. Self-taught Radiology terminology, anatomy, word processing and Meditech program which many hospitals throughout the country use. I have worked with some wonderful Radiologists over the years who taught me from the ground up and taught me very well. I learned many years ago to transcribe per the Radiologist and/or per the client. It oftentimes is what the Radiology group as a whole or the individual Radiologist prefers. I also learned that confidentiality is of the utmost importance.
03/23/06-11/13/06: Served an eight month term as Clerk of the Circuit Court for Dixie County, Florida. I was appointed as Clerk by Governor Jeb Bush. I lost as a Republican in the General Election due to it being a strictly Democrat county. I worked as Clerk-Auditor for the Board of County Commissioners. Managed 17 employees. Carried out all the duties required of a Clerk of Circuit Court.
11/02/99-04/18/06: Worked as a Radiology MT and was promoted in June of 2000 to Radiology Editor for Spheris. I edited Radiology reports for several hospitals across the country. While working for Spheris, I saved the company $300,000, saved an account and gained two more accounts for the company. While working for Spheris and at the same time serving as Clerk of the Circuit Court, I decided I had to resign from one or the other. I had pneumonia and was working at night for Spheris. I resigned without proper notice which I have vowed never to do again. I have always been noted for my integrity and felt I should include this in my resume. I loved being an Editor in Radiology. Some of my duties included being a mentor for MT's. I trained all new MT's. I filled in for supervisors when they were gone to meetings. Sometimes I covered for two supervisors at one time. I would be given hospital accounts across the United States along with the Account Specs. I would learn each account. The MT's would put reports in a "Held" position in Meditech. I would pull up the dictation, print out the report and edit each report, make any corrections needed, fill in any missing words or blanks, spell check every Held report and then submit to the appropriate Radiologist for signature. When
time permitted, I transcribed Radiology reports. The company provided me with the equipment needed to do my job. I have my own computer which is new. I have a Dictaphone C-phone, foot pedal, headset and also have a new WAV pedal. I have high speed. I have Stedman's spell checker on my computer plus a plethora of reference books including updated ones. I did a lot of "teaching" of terminology for Special Procedures as a lot of transcriptionists had never transcribed Special Procedures when they were hired even though that was a requirement on the applications. Radiology is my great love!
01/96-03/97: Osceola Regional Medical Center, Kissimmee, Florida. Worked as Supervisor of Transcription. Managed 8 transcriptionists. Provided Radiology TAT at 10 minutes to 4 hours. Was responsible for scheduling employees. I also was responsible for computerized payroll. Transcribed Radiology as time permitted. Was transcribing at night to help Kissimmee Outpatient Center get caught up and was offered a full time position as lead MT. I took the offer.
03/97-11/02/99: Kissimmee Outpatient Center. Lead MT (only MT for 7 months). Transcribed Radiology reports. This facility has been sold three times or more. The only employee who is still there that I know is Linda Saitta in CT. My husband retired in October, I was hired by Edix (now Spheris) in October and we moved to Horseshoe Beach, Fl. in late October. I worked for Spheris until 04/18/06.
I lived in North Carolina for several years and worked at St. Joseph's Hospital in Asheville, N. C. and also later worked at McDowell Hospital. I do not remember the dates as it was several years ago. I transcribed Radiology reports at both hospitals.
